Journey

A little under 3 years ago, I birthed Kai. In the hours and days that followed, quite unexpectedly, my heart was cracked wide open, transforming my capacity for love, but also for pain and fear. Our children are like tiny mirrors, forcing us to face hidden parts of ourselves that we didn’t even know existed. Day after day, they take us by the hand, slowly, patiently showing us the way. Their own capacity for love, joy, pain and anger – their innocence and purity – their very intensity of being – can be overwhelming sometimes. But they are gentle teachers. In the parent-child dance, we move closer, further apart, and then closer still, as we live and learn together. In this way, our parenting becomes a powerful daily spiritual practice and a living meditation.
